John McKendrick in Guatemala and Honduras
John is visting Guatemala and Honduras during the week of 12 January 2015, as a guest of the British Embassy. He is spending three days in Guatemala City and two days in Tegucigalpa, the Honduran capital.
John’s visit has been organised at the invitation of the British Embassy and he has taken part in a number of large seminars explaining the UK Bribery Act 2010; how to strengthen the rule of law in Central America; and the advantages of transparent and open government.
Amongst other events John is training the Guatemalan and Honduran judiciary; has met with representatives of both Governments, civil society and has had a series of meetings with representatives of British industry. He gave a presentation over drinks at the British Ambassador’s residence in Guatemala City on the topic of the nexus between the rule of law and economic growth. He has undertaken a variety of television, radio and newspaper interviews in the region.
John speaks fluent spanish, is the contributor of the Latin American chapter of Lissack and Horlick on Bribery and has many years experience of working in Latin America and the Caribbean.
