Fiona has extensive experience as an advocate before juries, tribunals and in appellate courts.

Her experience of financial crime, regulation and enforcement is wide-ranging.  It includes large scale MTIC/carousel fraud, international advance fee fraud, tax fraud, fraudulent trading, mortgage fraud, money laundering and asset recovery.

Fiona is co-editor and contributing author to the new LexisNexis publication ‘Lissack and Horlick on Bribery’.  This brand new work offers a comprehensive overview of the new Bribery Act 2010 set in both a national and international context with a full explanation of the scope of the Act together with guidance on anti-corruption measures and sentencing. Fiona advises companies with regard to business crime, in particular potential corruption and bribery matters.

She has an extensive practice defending health professionals including doctors, dentists and pharmacists before their disciplinary bodies.  She also represents doctors at PCT hearings, Trust hearings, at 1st Tier Tribunals and at inquests. Further she lectures and gives seminars on medical subjects at conferences and to solicitors.

Fiona also uses the combination of her medical and criminal skills and experience to defend health professionals in the criminal courts across the full range of criminal charges. She is regarded as ‘at the top of the list of very able barristers’ for such cases.

She is known for her advocacy skills, attention to detail and for a high level of professional commitment.

  • Defending Kay Gilderdale who assisted her severely ill daughter commit suicide and who was then charged with attempted murder.  Raised important questions with regard to the charging of persons in these types of cases.  High profile case with international publicity
