Practice summary

Nathan specialises in catastrophic personal injury and clinical negligence. His practice also covers broader aspects of medical law and professional negligence. He is regarded by solicitors or opponents interviewed by the legal directories for having “sound judgment”,  “an industrious approach”, “a measured and independent perspective”, and “a good approachable manner”.

Over recent years Nathan has acted in some of the highest value actions in his field, for example C.R.E v C.R.F & the MIB where he represented the Claimant who recovered damages which capitalised at in excess of £9 million. He has acted in many cases involving complex brain injury and also has a detailed knowledge of claims with a psychiatric element sitting, as he does, as a Judge of the Mental Health Tribunal.

Other areas of personal injury litigation in which Nathan has considerable expertise include aviation accidents (his first degree was in Aeronautical Engineering and he has acted in a number of claims with significant liability issues), claims involving the Ministry of Defence, and asbestos-related industrial disease litigation. Nathan is also an experienced horse rider and has acted predominantly for riding institutions in many horse-related claims. In the leading case of Mirvahedy v Henley he acted alone for the defendant at the quantum trial.

Nathan has experience of group litigation and claims involving negligence/accidents abroad. He acts for both claimants and defendants, and receives instructions from the leading firms in the fields in which he practices. He also accepts direct access instructions.

Outside of work, Nathan is a keen sportsman. In November 2010 he ran the New York Marathon to raise money for the Spinal Injuries Association.
