He undertakes a mixture of work across these areas of practice, generally beyond his level of call, for both Claimants and Defendants.
Ben is happy and willing to undertake or assist with training across any of his core areas of practice for solicitors who may wish to meet him to see how he works and approaches legal issues.
Ben undertakes public law and disciplinary work within the sphere of his medical practice. He appeared as junior counsel on behalf of the intervener in the landmark assisted suicide case of R (on the application of Purdy) v Director of Public Prosecutions  1 A.C. 345, and more recently appeared in Nicklinson v Ministry of Justice & Others / AM v DPP & Others  3 W.L.R. 200 (SC); relating to voluntary euthanasia.
He takes a particular interest in matters relating to mental capacity, with a view to undertaking work in the Court of Protection. He has significant experience of representing medical practitioners at inquests, and similarly represents professionals before their respective disciplinary tribunals.
