Bianca joined Chambers as a tenant in 2015 after successfully completing pupillage. She accepts instructions in all areas of Chambers’ practice including commercial litigation, probate, employment & discrimination, financial services, personal injury, inquests and international related matters.
Bianca is licensed to undertake public access work.
Advocacy experience includes High Court and County Court hearings, multi-day Employment Tribunal work, inquests at the Coroner’s Court and preliminary hearings at the Crown Court.
Bianca speaks fluent German, advanced French and elementary Brazilian Portuguese.
Bianca has a BCL from Lincoln College, University of Oxford, and a first-class law degree from the University of Manchester. She is a former solicitor, having qualified at Magic Circle firm Slaughter and May in 2012.
Prior to starting pupillage, Bianca was a judicial assistant to the Lord Chief Justice, Lord Thomas at the Court of Appeal from April to July 2014. She was a research assistant at the Law Commission in the Common Law and Commercial Team in 2013-2014. She undertook a stage at the European Court of Human Rights in 2012.
Bianca is currently on secondment to the Financial Conduct Authority where she is advising in relation to a range of investment and pensions matters.
She advised a lending company in relation to the consumer due diligence and verification that it needed to perform to comply with its obligations under the FCA handbook.
Bianca was seconded to the US international law firm Willkie Farr & Gallagher where she gained experience in a number of high-profile investigations into corruption and bribery. She assisted in relation to investigations being conducted by the Serious Fraud Office, Financial Conduct Authority and US regulators.
She has been instructed in relation to the Forex market investigations being conducted by UK and US regulators.
Bianca published an article in the New Law Journal in January 2016: “New senior manager rules: three key requirements & removal of the reverse burden of proof “.
Bianca carried out research regarding the chapters on money laundering and suspicious activity reports in the 6th edition of Millington and Sutherland Williams on The Proceeds of Crime (Oxford University Press) 2013.
