Farhaz receives instructions in all areas of chambers practice, with particular emphasis on pension schemes, financial services and employment law.

Farhaz is a member of chambers' highly regarded pensions team, and has advised companies and public authorities in relation to pension schemes matters. He acted for the successful representative beneficiary in Re IMG Pension Plan; HR Trustees v German & another [2009] EWCA 2785 (Ch) and the company in Foster Wheeler Ltd v Hanley [2008] EWHC 2926 (Ch), [2008] All ER (D) 316 (Nov) (both led by Richard Hitchcock). He is a member of the Association of Pension Lawyers (APL).

Farhaz has a growing practice in financial services law and regulation. Farhaz recently completed a six month secondment at the FSA. He advised on matters arising from the 'Supervisory Enhancement Programme' introduced by the FSA in response to the banking crisis, and the mis-selling of PPI. Farhaz has experience of drafting FSA handbook rules including Conduct of Business Rules in connection with the regulation of personal pensions (including SIPPs) by the FSA. Farhaz regularly advises regulated firms on the application of FSMA and FSA rules. He is currently advising: a firm in connection with FSA enforcement proceedings, including representation at the RDC; a hedge fund manager in relation to compliance issues and the proposed variation of FSMA Part IV permission; on the application of FSA rules to a proposed collective Investment scheme and in relation to high value mis-selling claim arising out of the administration of Keydata Investment Services Ltd. Farhaz is an Editor of Butterworth's Financial Regulation Service (responsible for chapters in volume 3, 'Investment Firms and Collective Investment Schemes') and a contributor to Butterworth's Encyclopedia of Banking Law Banking Update. Farhaz is the Assistant Secretary and a founding member of the Financial Services Lawyers Association (FSLA).

Farhaz receives instructions in a variety of employment and discrimination law matters, and has experience of contractual disputes, unfair dismissal, discrimination (including equal pay), whistle-blowing and trade union matters. He acts for a number of local authorities and third sector clients. Farhaz is a member of ELA.

Farhaz has broad experience of giving advice, drafting pleadings and court and tribunal advocacy in general commercial advice and litigation. As well as working on a number of financial services mis-selling matters, he is currently instructed in a complex VAT appeal involving alleged MTIC fraud and contra-traders (led by Michael Patchett-Joyce). He has rights of audience in the Dubai International Financial Court (DIFC) and is a member of COMBAR.

Farhaz regularly writes articles and gives talks on these areas of practice. He recently spoke on the topic of the banking crisis at the International Bar Association Conference in Madrid, and has published a number of articles on financial services and markets in the Journal of International Banking and Financial Law (JIBFL). He is currently working on a book written by members of chambers' FSG on financial services and banking law and regulation (to be published by Butterworth's in February 2010).
