Identified as a leading silk in professional disciplinary and regulatory law and described as a "shining star of silk representation" in Legal 500, Gordon Bebb QC brings specialist expertise to the area of corporate manslaughter and professional discipline.
He represented the Crown in the Hatfield train prosecution, the leading case under the old law of corporate manslaughter and he advises companies and individuals on the implications of the new corporate manslaughter legislation.
His recent insurance backed cases include R v Hutchinson at Nottingham Crown Court where he successful represented a company director in a corporate manslaughter prosecution and R v Jones and others at Stafford Crown Court where he successfully represented the driver of a road rail vehicle in the Hednesford Rail double fatality after a seven week trial.
He is regularly instructed to represent medical practitioners before the General Medical Council, the General Dental Council, the High Court (Judicial Review) and in ancillary criminal prosecutions.
During the summer of 2009 he represented Dr B, a GP, in 3 separate trials in respect of inappropriate examinations of female patients. He secured acquittals in all three trials. In December 2009 represented Dr D, a GP, in his trial on two counts relating to the inappropriate examination of two patients. He secured acquittals on both counts. He also represented Dr O in the Court of Appeal in her appeal against conviction on a count of wilfully making a false representation with a view to procuring the cremation of a patient. The conviction was quashed.
As a cross-over he specializes in clinical negligence cases where he is regularly instructed in high value claims including wrongful birth and cerebral palsy cases. He also specialises in personal injury catastrophic claims generally. He is regularly asked to speak and chair at catastrophic injury seminars in London. He has been a keynote speaker at the AVMA annual conference.
