vCard Nicholas Hill

Nicholas accepted an offer of tenancy at Outer Temple Chambers in October 2009 following the successful completion of pupillage. His pupil supervisors were Andrew Allen, Elliot Woolf, David Grant and James Leonard with whom he acquired experience in the provision of advice, drafting and the management of litigation. He was fortunate to gain experience of advocacy across a range of disciplines and has sought to incorporate elements from each of those disciplines into his own practice.

Nicholas accepts instructions in all areas of Chambers' work.

In the field of Personal Injury Nicholas appears in trials on liability and quantum and is equally comfortable advising on both. Prior to joining Chambers Nicholas worked in the Clinical Negligence team at a national solicitors' firm and has a good understanding of the roles and demands placed on each side of the profession.

Nicholas has experience of defending and prosecuting in the Magistrates' Court, has appeared in the Crown Court and represents prisoners at Parole Board Review Hearings. Combining his experience of Personal Injury and Criminal work he has successfully represented clients at the Criminal Injuries Compensation Appeals Panel.

Nicholas regularly appears in the Employment Tribunal representing Claimants and Respondents in case management discussions, preliminary hearing reviews and multi-day final hearings. He has experience in unfair dismissal, discrimination, breach of contract, redundancy and has recently been instructed on an Equal Pay claim. Nicholas is standing Counsel to the British Association of Journalists and a member of the Employment Lawyers Association.

With a particular interest in Public Law Nicholas has appeared in Mental Health Review Tribunals on short notice. He is currently instructed by the Treasury Solicitors as a junior within a large team preparing a complex Judicial Review. He is a member of the Constitutional and Administrative Law Bar Association.

Nicholas has first class degrees from the University of Nottingham (BA Hons) (highest in year) and the College of Law (LLB Hons). He was first in the order of merit at Bar school and held the Princess Royal and Sir Stephan Chapman Scholarships from Inner Temple.
