Robert Rhodes QC specialises in wide areas of practice, including serious fraud, money laundering, confiscation, tax investigations, health and safety, extradition, regulatory, financial services, judicial review, and company and commercial matters. He was the first English silk instructed to represent a defendant in the War Crimes Tribunal at The Hague relating to the former Yugoslavia, and the first English silk instructed in a capital drugs appeal in Singapore. He represented the Belgian Government in the successful extradition of Liverpool FC supporters arising from the Heysel Stadium disaster.
He has lectured world-wide on legal matters, most recently in Hong Kong, dealing inter alia with money laundering, confiscation and company law. He has also published and broadcast extensively.
He is an accredited mediator and ACIArb.
A client, acquitted with costs after a long fraud trial, wrote "...I count myself both privileged and lucky to have had you representing me". He is recommended by the Legal 500 as a leading silk in Fraud, Banking and Finance.
Currently a Chairman of Disciplinary Tribunals for AIDB/AADB since 2004, he was a member of the Appeal Tribunal of ICAEW 1998-2004 and was Deputy Chairman IMRO Membership Appeals Tribunal 1992-2001. Between 1979-89 he was Standing Counsel to the Inland Revenue. Appointed Recorder 1987. Robert Rhodes QC is a Bencher of the Inner Temple and a member of the Bar Council.
