Hospital error leads to death

Tom Leeper was instructed by Bonallack Bishop solicitors to represent the family of Valerie Shepherd at an inquest held into her death. Valerie died as a result of clinicians carrying out an unsafe liver biopsy which resulted in a massive and fatal haemorrhage. A Clinical Review identified numerous omissions in the care provided at Salisbury District Hospital. After the inquest at Salisbury Coroner's Court which ended on 16 March 2010, the Coroner returned a narrative verdict. Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust apologised to the family and said lessons have been learned.
