Anthony Lo Surdo SC presents to the Japan Sports Law Association on International Sports Arbitration

Anthony Lo Surdo SC recently presented a well-received webinar to members of the Japan Sports Law Association as part of its Study and Research on International Sports Arbitration.

Anthony explored aspects of International Sports Arbitration including CAS arbitration and the role of the CAS arbitrator.

The Japanese Sports Law Association (JSLA) is the premier non-profit sports law organisation in Japan and is dedicated to providing education, advocacy and networking opportunities about legal issues in sport.

Anthony will be delivering a further lecture on aspects of international sports arbitration in the lead up to Tokyo 2020.

Anthony Lo Surdo SC is a Professional Associate at Outer Temple Chambers based in Sydney. Anthony has vast expertise in sports law, with much of his ADR work relating to this area of law.

In recognition of his specialist knowledge of mediation and sports law, in January 2016, Anthony was appointed by the International Council of Arbitration for Sport (ICAS) as an arbitrator and mediator of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) where his name appears in both the general list and the football list. Many of his cases have concerned football related disciplinary, governance and commercial appeals.

In January 2019, he was appointed as the Acting Racing Appeals Tribunal (NSW). In February 2019, he was appointed to the International Panel of Arbitrators maintained by Sport Resolutions (UK). In March 2020, he was appointed as one of the inaugural part-time members of the National Sports Tribunal. He also holds positions with other Australian sports governing bodies most notably in football.
