Outer Temple’s Sarah Crowther KC and Ian Denham are speaking at the PEOPIL Joint Occupational Health/Workplace Accidents and RTA Conference on Thursday 15th & Friday 16th June 2023 in Greece. PEOPIL was founded in 1996 by a group of personal injury lawyers practicing in various jurisdictions in Europe. Their aim was to set up a networking organisation to provide a forum for personal injury lawyers across Europe and to improve and promote judicial co-operation and mutual knowledge of legal and judicial systems of European jurisdictions in this field. Olinga Tahzib, of Outer Temple Chambers, has recently been instructed to join a team of counsel to represent the interests of the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) in the UK COVID-19 Inquiry. The Inquiry has been set up to examine the UK’s response to and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, and to learn lessons for the future. The Inquiry’s work is guided by its Terms of Reference. Olinga’s work for the DHSC is focussed on Module 3, which examines the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on healthcare. Bianca Venkata has recently been published in Lexis Nexis® PSL. Her article provides a short overview of the proposed amendments of Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) to the National Health Service Pension Scheme Regulations 1995 (1995 Regs). On the 5th December 2022, DHSC launched a consultation regarding proposed amendments to the 1995 regulations. The background to the consultation was a desire to make it more attractive for NHS employees to work for longer and thereby reduce NHS waiting times and retain the skills and knowledge of experienced NHS employees.
