Amna is developing a broad practice across all aspects of Chambers’ specialisms.
Between September 2024 – August 2025, Amna served as the Judicial Assistant to Lady Simler in the Supreme Court of the United Kingdom and the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council. During this time, she assisted on several complex and high profile appeals. These appeals covered a wide range of areas of law, including employment, public, tax, commercial and property law. Most notably, Amna gained experience on: For Women Scotland v Scottish Ministers [2025] UKSC 16, a landmark case on the definition of ‘woman’ in the Equality Act 2010; and Waller-Edwards v One Savings Bank plc [2025] UKSC 22, a significant undue influence case which determined the test for when a creditor is put on inquiry in a non-commercial hybrid transaction.
Before coming to the Bar, Amna read law at New College, University of Oxford, graduating with a first in Jurisprudence. She was later awarded the Aziz Scholarship and Roche Scholarship for the BCL at the University of Oxford, and the Mona de Piro Middle Temple Scholarship for the Bar course. As an OPBP-Bonavero Institute Student Fellow at UNRWA Field Legal Office, Amna prepared legal opinions, contracts, and internal memoranda relating to UN employment policies. Prior to starting pupillage, Amna also worked as a legal assistant to personal injury barristers and gained extensive experience in preparing complex pleadings in high-value cases.

Amna has experience of employment proceedings at every level. During her second six, Amna gained experience of ET proceedings and her cases included acting successfully for a respondent employer in an unfair dismissal claim. During her time as a Judicial Assistant to Lady Simler in the Supreme Court, Amna gained significant experience on the case of For Women Scotland v Scottish Ministers [2025] UKSC 16, a landmark case on the definition of ‘woman’ in the Equality Act 2010.

A six-day ET trial raising issues of race discrimination and victimisation (assisting Stephen Butler).
Research for an equal pay claim including claims of harassment and discrimination (assisting Gus Baker).
A constructive dismissal claim in relation to an alleged breach of confidentiality (assisting Stephen Butler).
A claim for unfair dismissal, direct sex discrimination, harassment related to sex, victimisation, unlawful deduction from wages, and holiday pay (assisting Gus Baker).
A Rule 21 application in the EAT to appeal from the Registrar’s Order. The appeal concerned the time limit to submit an appeal (assisting Michael Uberoi).
Cardiff City Football Club Limited v McKay: research for a hearing to consider the CCFC’s application for delivery up of electronic devices for inspection pursuant to CPR 25.1(1)(c)(ii). The background of this case concerned matters relating to the transfer of Emiliano Sala from Nantes FC (assisting Michael Uberoi).
Drafting a complex financial services defence in proceedings initiated by a professional footballer against their financial adviser for deceit, breach of contract, and breach of COBS (assisting Michael Uberoi).
Research on enforcing an arbitral award in the United States (assisting Alex Haines).
Research on a pensions advice concerning a potential breach of the imperial duty of mutual trust and confidence and the appropriate limitation period (assisting Michael Uberoi).
A pensions rectification Part 8 hearing (assisting Michael Uberoi).
Ignite International Brands (UK) v Inpero Limited [2024] EWHC 1595 (KB): a contempt of court sentencing hearing (assisting Michael Uberoi).

A schedule of loss in a severe case of complex regional pain syndrome resulting in a below knee amputation with the claim valued at approximately £7m (assisting Eliot Woolf KC and Will Young).
A schedule of loss in a traumatic brain injury case with a six-figure settlement (assisting Will Young).
A schedule of loss in a birth injury case involving perinatal asphyxia and neonatal encephalopathy (assisting Eliot Woolf KC).
Drafting a counter-schedule and advice on quantum in a clinical negligence claim (assisting Will Young).
Research on the illegality defence in a personal injury claim (assisting Will Young).
Amna gained experience in public law matters at the highest level as a judicial assistant at the Supreme Court of the United Kingdom. Due to her experience in personal injury and clinical negligence, she is also particularly well placed for Court of Protection work.
