Chambers & Partner UK Bar Rankings 2021

Outer Temple is delighted to announce that we are again ranked as a leading set across 9 practice areas in the 2021 edition of Chambers and Partners. Outer Temple now has 76 individual barrister rankings in Chambers & Partners, including 21 individual promotions this year.

In addition to our expertise in Clinical Negligence, Personal Injury, Court of Protection: Health & Welfare, Employment, Financial Services, Health & Safety, Pensions, Professional Discipline and Travel, we have members recognised in: Financial Crime, Inquests and Public Inquiries, Chancery Commercial and Industrial Disease.

In Clinical Negligence, Outer Temple were praised for housing “a strong bench of senior and junior barristers who have experience of representing both claimants and defendants in a wide range of clinical negligence claims. Areas of expertise for the team include birth injury and catastrophic brain and spinal injury cases, as well as high-value quantum disputes.” Interviewees reported that “The set’s members are very professional and the quality of the work they produce is amazing.”

In Personal Injury we are noted for being “Routinely instructed in complex multiparty cases and cross-border matters involving difficult jurisdictional issues. Instructing solicitors praise the “quality of counsel” available within the set and note that “whenever you instruct Outer Temple Chambers you know your case will be dealt with professionally and efficiently.”

In Court of Protection, our rank reflected our “strength in the handling of property and affairs disputes” and “noted expertise in cases concerning the health and welfare of vulnerable individuals”

Our Pensions Team “demonstrates notable expertise in a broad range of contentious and non-contentious issues pertaining to pensions law, with sources commenting on the “breadth of expertise” at the set.” Members of the Pensions Team have a “wealth of experience” and “regularly act for the Pensions Regulator and the Pensions Ombudsman, as well as employers and trustees.”

Our Disciplinary and Regulatory Team were noted for having “excellent capability across a broad spread of regulated professions” with members acting in “several high-profile disciplinary matters arising from alleged pension fund fraud or mismanagement, among other financial services issues.” Commentators observe that the set “devotes real energy to professional discipline, without seeing it as an add-on.”

Our Travel Team were noted for being “adept at advising on jurisdiction and the application of foreign law” with “a strong bench of senior and junior barristers experienced in the handling of complex and high-value international personal injury matters.”

We were also delighted to be included in the editorial which particularly commended sets for their provision of quality client service. This editorial described Outer Temple as a “very modern set” with a “phenomenally attentive clerking team.” The Clerking Team were also described as providing “a first-rate service” and is lauded by solicitors as “helpful, friendly, quick and responsive.”
