Chris Gittins joins OTC as Director of Clerking

We are delighted to announce that Chris Gittins has joined Outer Temple Chambers as our Director of Clerking.

Chris joins Outer Temple Chambers this week to take on the post of Director of Clerking, overseeing the management of the clerking teams, the business development function and its strategic leadership.

Chris is thrilled to take up this position, having previously been part of the Outer Temple family in the early 2000s. In all, he has enjoyed over 25 successful years in senior clerking roles in some of London’s leading commercial, chancery and family sets, and brings a wealth of management experience back to where it all started for him. He cut his clerking teeth at Outer Temple before swiftly moving up the ranks and, during his time as a Senior Clerk, contributed to the international development of chambers and launch of our Dubai office, which continues to flourish today. He continued to build on this experience at some of the leading ‘magic circle’ sets, helping to transform fee structures, management structures and to increase their market share whilst forging sophisticated professional networks of his own. He said of his return; “The Bar has changed exponentially in the last 15 years, and I am looking forward to contributing my insights to help new and old friends at Outer Temple continue to thrive.”

Chris prides himself on his open and collaborative approach in leading a client-focused team. He will be working closely with the Heads of Chambers and the Senior Management Team to ensure that only the very best quality of service is delivered to our clients. He is committed to the promotion of diversity and inclusion at the Bar and has been recognised in the directories as “setting the gold standard for clerking in the city”.

He was heavily involved in the development of the Financial Services Lawyers Association (FSLA) and was a founding member of the executive committee of the Russia & CIS Arbitration Network (RCAN). He is a member of the Institute of Barristers’ Clerks.
