David Haines joins Outer Temple Chambers

Outer Temple Chambers is delighted to welcome David Haines to our clinical negligence and personal injury team.

David qualified in medicine in 1998 and practised as a junior doctor prior to joining the Bar in 2005. He has since built a broad ranging, complex, clinical and dental negligence and personal injury practice. He also undertakes sports, Court of Protection and inquest work. He has considerable experience in advisory work, settling pleadings including schedules of special damages and counter schedules.

David is a particular authority in clinical negligence and is ranked in Chambers and Partners 2021. The legal directory notes that he is “clear, fastidious and bright…excellent with clients and experts alike and has a great understanding of medical issues”. They also acknowledge his medical expertise as clear advantage for his clients; “Given his medical background he has an impressive knowledge of medicine, which is really helpful.”

David’s interest in sports law is no surprise given that he is a British, Welsh and British University triathlon champion, having represented Wales at the Manchester Commonwealth Games and Great Britain at Senior Elite level in European Championships, World Championships, World University Championships as well as in World Cup and European Cup races.

Head of Chambers and the Health Department, Sarah Crowther QC, said “We are delighted to welcome David to the team at Outer Temple Chambers. We are looking forward to working with him and continuing to provide the best service to all our clients in personal injury, clinical negligence and sports law. In view of David’s impressive expertise and first-rate client care, we are confident his addition will mean further success for both David and Chambers.”

David said of his appointment “I’m delighted to be joining such a forward thinking and diverse set as Outer Temple Chambers. Their broad range of specialisms and collaborative working ethos will enable me to utilise my expertise to further broaden my own practice”.
