David Russell QC at 2017 St Petersburg International Legal Forum

David Russell QC is due to speak at two sessions during the St Petersburg International Legal Forum on May 18 – 19.

This year’s programme includes traditional topics such as antitrust regulation, financial and investment policy, Russian-Asian cooperation, cultural heritage regulation as well as the new regulatory issues of modern technologies and their impact on the development of the legal profession.

Other topics to be discussed include personal insolvency, cross-border bankruptcy, employees’ rights in bankruptcy, debt collection, financial institutions bankruptcy, social issues in bankruptcy, issues of concern to insolvency practitioners and others.

David’s first session will discuss the vicarious liability of companies’ controlling persons in the insolvency procedures and their liability for tax obligations. It will be chaired by the Russian Federal tax service.

Secondly, David focuses on the concept of the ‘beneficial owner’ in both Russian and international tax law. The Deputy Commissioner of the Russian Federal Tax Service, Sergey Arakelov, is expected to chair this panel discussion.

On both days, David will be providing his insight into the Australian practice.
