David E. Grant KC of Outer Temple Chambers, alongside Professor Ewan McGaughey of King’s College London will discuss the role of crowdfunding in McGaughey v Universities Superannuation Scheme, a climate related derivative action. Carin Hunt of Outer Temple Chambers, alongside Tara Flores of Thorndon Partners will focus on group litigation communications.

David E. Grant KC, Outer Temple Chambers
David E. Grant KC is a specialist in pensions and commercial and related group claims. He has extensive advocacy experience up to the European Court of Justice and has also attended numerous mediations and round table meetings. David is happy as sole advocate or leading a counsel team and enjoys the process of working with his instructing solicitors, lay clients, insurers, funders, experts and other interested parties. He acted in the milestone case of (1)McGaughey and (2) Davies v USS CA-2022-001798, which was listed as one of the Lawyer’s Top Ten Appeals of 2023. The case has profound implications for pensions, trusts and company law practice and practitioners. He has also acted in such notable cases as the Places For People and ATOS pensions litigations.
Carin Hunt, Outer Temple Chambers
Carin Hunt is a civil practitioner specialising in personal injury, clinical negligence, travel law, inquests, and group related claims. She is currently acting on behalf of a group of claimants against an NHS Trust following bacterial contamination of the Trust’s water supply, causing illness and deaths. She is also part of a 14-strong team representing over 50 claimants who bring claims of clinical negligence, human rights infringements, and abuse arising out of their admissions under section to psychiatric paediatric inpatient units owned and operated by several private hospitals.
Professor Ewan McGaughey, King’s College London
Ewan McGaughey is a Professor of Law who specialises in law, economics and history. His research focuses on labour law, enterprise and corporate governance, environmental regulation. He has taught extensively in contract and commercial law as well property law, trusts, tort, EU law, constitutional law, criminal law, and corporate insolvency.
Tara Flores, Thorndon Partners
Tara is a research and litigation specialist, co-founding Thorndon Partners and leading its Disputes practice. She has over a decade of experience advising clients on complex international communications issues, with a broad research and policy background spanning international relations, open-source investigations, and countering disinformation.
