"Outer Temple Chambers has ‘an impressive range of well-rounded and capable advocates’ offering ‘a consistently high standard of service’."
As one of the leading centres in the world of international commercial arbitration, London has been home to many of its most prominent practitioners. The use of arbitration continues to expand and diversify – we aim to meet the arbitration needs of new markets and provide the skills of our advisers and arbitrators to new and established clients alike, helping you avoid or resolve disputes in the most cost-efficient, speedy and commercially pragmatic way possible.
Our arbitration barristers and associates are experienced in acting as sole or panel arbitrators in a wide range of domestic and cross-border disputes including matters relating to: commercial contracts, banking, pensions, regulatory and tax issues, construction disputes and personal injury. Several also have wide global experience from working on disputes in the Middle East, the Americas and Asia Pacific.
Members at Outer Temple have extensive experience in the field, especially under the rules of the International Chamber of Commerce (“ICC”), London Court of International Arbitration (“LCIA”), American Arbitration Association (“AAA”), United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (“UNCITRAL”), Dubai International Arbitration Centre (“DIAC”) and ICDR. They have also served as counsel in arbitrations, and/or as arbitrators, in many seats around the world, and been recognised in a host of publications and for a, including Who’s Who Legal and in BestLawyers. They are frequently invited to speak at significant conferences and contribute to projects for the reform of the rules and laws that shape the practice of arbitration and civil procedure – for example, the American Law Institute/Unidroit project on Principles and Rules of Transnational Civil Procedure.
Our members include Fellows of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. The Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (“CIArb”) is a centre of excellence for the global promotion, facilitation and development of all forms of dispute resolution, relying on training and mentorship provided by senior members of the international arbitration community. Outer Temple members are playing a key role in enriching and expanding the CIArb educational programme by contributing to the development of new course offerings.
Our members contribute to the work of the ICC Commission and its national committees in Britain and abroad, the International Bar Association (“IBA”) Arbitration Committee, and the International Law Association (“ILA”) Committee on International Commercial Arbitration. Some are active members of the LCIA and the panels of arbitrators of China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (“CIETAC”), Shanghai International Arbitration Center (“SHIAC”), the International Centre for Dispute Resolution (“ICDR”) and Kuala Lumpur Regional Centre for Arbitration (“KLRCA”).
