Outer Temple Chambers hosted a Travel Law Conference in Manchester on 25th April 2024 together with a selection of esteemed guests from the travel law industry. This was a hybrid event and the recordings are now available online. After a welcome note by Gerard McDermott KC, the first talk of the day was presented by Carin Hunt of Outer Temple Chambers and Nathaniel Martindale of Irwin Mitchell on ‘Force Majeure, Acts of God and disasters’. Gerard also chaired this session.

Carin Hunt is a civil practitioner specialising in personal injury, clinical negligence, travel law, inquests, professional regulation (healthcare), the Court of Protection, education law, and the law of international organisations. She acts for Claimants and Defendants. Carin is currently ranked as a Rising Star in Personal Injury in Legal 500 and as Up and Coming in Travel: International Personal Injury in Chambers and Partners.
Nathaniel Martindale is an Associate Solicitor at Irwin Mitchell within their International Serious Injury Team based in Manchester. Nathaniel has been qualified for seven years and has always practised in Private International and Travel Law since he was a Trainee Solicitor. Nathaniel’s practice area includes English claims under the Package Travel Regulations as well as applicable law/jurisdictional cases. Nathaniel has a specific interest in complex applicable law and jurisdictional cases. His experience includes claims under the Montreal Convention, Athens Convention, Package Travel Regulations as well other European Regulations such as Rome I, Rome II and the Brussels (Recast) Regulations.
