The Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL) is a not-for-profit campaign group which has been committed to helping injured people for more than 30 years. The Product Liability SIG meeting took place on Thursday 17th July 2025 from 4pm to 5:30pm. Harry Lambert discussed ‘Product Liability in the Digital Age’, alongside Sarah Moore of Leigh Day and Natalie Truman of Irwin Mitchell.

What’s different about digital technology?
For this part of the talk, Harry reviewed various cases including St Albans City and District Council v International Computers Ltd [1996] 4 All ER 48, The Software Incubator Ltd v Computer Associates UK Ltd [2016] EWHC 1587 (QB). He also highlighted the Department of Trade and Industry Guide and liability under the act.
Specific Applications: AI, Social Media, Neurotechnology
As the second part of the talk, Harry Lambert discussed his recently published articles ‘Is Social Media a Defective Product?’ and ‘Neurotechnology & the Law: Privacy & Data Protection’. He also reviewed the decisions of Smith v Littlewoods and Haynes v Harwood. Harry also explored Neurotechnology, its impact and its relation to law.
Harry Lambert specialises in the areas of product liability, medical tech, clinical negligence, personal injury, and human rights law. He is also renowned for his expertise in group litigation claims relating to these areas. Harry is one of the leading Product Liability juniors at the Bar. He is ranked in Band 2 in Legal 500, where he is described as someone who “knows the area like the back of his hand”. He acts for both claimants and defendants.
