Harry is a leading silk specialising in personal injury, sports law, private international law and group litigation.
Harry has specialised in industrial disease and mesothelioma since his junior days and he is described as having “…an exhaustive knowledge of asbestos disease issues” by Chambers & Partners. He is the chief editor of the leading textbook, “Asbestos: Law and Litigation” (Sweet & Maxwell, 2nd edition, June 2022). He has appeared in many of the landmark cases that have shaped this area of law. His personal injury practice also focuses on high value and complex serious injuries and he is currently acting for thousands of former and serving military personnel in three group claims against the Ministry of Defence.
Many of Harry’s personal injury cases involve cross border issues and group claims. Previous high profile cases include the Bomu Bonny Pipeline Litigation which involved claims brought by over 15,000 claimants arising out of two huge oil spills in the Niger Deltas. Other environmental claims include a class action for thousands of goldminers in South Africa, and acting for environmental protesters for serious injuries sustained during demonstrations at an Andean copper mine. His practice has expanded further in recent years, to include aviation law.
Harry has an ongoing working interest in Brazilian and British football sectors, which has naturally developed an acute knowledge of the law of football, conducting international arbitrations and advising clients from UK to South America. A key factor in the decision to join Outer Temple, Harry will help drive the already innovative and ambitious Sports Team in several upcoming projects.
Harry said of his move, “I am absolutely delighted to be joining such a dynamic team at Outer Temple. The team is highly respected in the industry and I look forward to working alongside them to help build on this even further.”
James Counsell KC, Head of Chambers, said “We are absolutely thrilled that Harry is joining us. We are certain that he will add huge value to the work that we do and will reinforce our position as a leading chambers”
Chief Executive, Rebecca Priestley, said “ We are delighted to welcome Harry Steinberg KC to Outer Temple Chambers. Harry is an exceptional silk with a stellar reputation. He will be a fantastic addition to our fast-growing Group Litigation, Sports, International and Travel teams as well as a phenomenal leader in industrial disease work.
