Personal injury law specialist, Ian Denham, has recently been published in the APIL PI Focus Magazine on the direct actions against overseas insurers post-Brexit. Ian will be speaking at the APIL International Injuries Conference on 30 November.

Ian’s article looks at the latest position on direct actions against overseas insurers post-Brexit. ‘The impact that the United Kingdom’s exit from the European Union has had on private international law may not – at least at first blush – appear to be one of the more significant consequences of Brexit. However, the suite of rights lost by the prospective claimant who has had the misfortune to be injured abroad; who, given the option, would prefer to litigate their claim before their home court in the UK,
has been profound. In turn, the task of the legal team advising that claimant has become increasing complex and riddled by uncertainty.’
