Outer Temple Chambers hosted a Travel Law Conference in Manchester on 1st June together with a selection of esteemed guests from the travel law industry. This was a hybrid event and the recordings are now available online. The first talk of the day was “International Group Actions” presented by Will Young (Outer Temple Chambers) and Jatinder Paul (Irwin Mitchell).
The full slide deck from this presentation can be found here.
Will is a leading travel law junior and has a particular interest in claims involving cross-border personal injury and travel law. He acts for both Claimants and Defendants in claims with an international or cross-border element to them in a number of areas, including: package travel claims, cross-border RTAs, Athens Convention, and aviation (e.g. “Denied Boarding” Regulations) claims. He has been instructed in a number of cases involving catastrophic injury following RTAs abroad, or with a cross-border element to them.
Jatinder is a Partner in Irwin Mitchell’s International Serious Injury department in Birmingham. He manages a team who primarily deal with group actions against UK-based tour operators, or single party actions against defendants in foreign countries (often working with foreign lawyers). He handles claims involving illness, such as E-Coli and Salmonella, and outbreaks on cruise ships. Jatinder also handles group action claims relating to illness outbreaks in the UK, as part of the firm’s Public Health team. He has worked on some of the most complex and high-value cases, such as the much publicised Steigenberger Aqua Magic Hotel outbreak in August 2018.
