International Injury & Travel team Seminar in Manchester

In March 2019, the Outer Temple International Injury & Travel team held an invitation-only seminar in Manchester focusing on ‘Key Issues and Developments in Travel Law’.

The seminar was chaired by Gerard McDermott QC and attended by leading cross-border personal injury lawyers from across Europe.

Ian Denham kicked off the afternoon, presenting on the recent Package Travel and Linked Travel Arrangements Regulations 2018 and explored what impact the Regulations might have on the travel industry and personal injury claims.

A presentation from US attorney, Jack J. Casciato followed. Jack, a partner at Clifford Law Offices of Chicago gave an illuminating and engaging overview of aviation claims brought under the Montreal Convention.

This was followed by a joint segment by Gerard McDermott QC and Jack J. Casciato comparing litigation in the UK and the US.

The seminar was concluded by an insightful presentation from Dan Clarke on the possible repercussions on cross-border tort claims following anticipated Brexit – ironically held one day before the UK was expected to leave the European Union!
