John McKendrick QC has been invited to talk at the The ILS Global Forum on International Law hosted by iLaw2020 on February 28, 2020. John will speaking on a panel for the plenary session titled ‘U.S. Sanctions Policy and OFAC: What Every Lawyer (and Client) Should Know’. The unofficial theme of this year’s conference is International Corruption.
The session will explore how U.S. sanctions policy has evolved over the last three decades, the significant role it plays in Latin America, beginning with the Cuba Embargo, Kingpin Act in Venezuela, and – most recently – the sanctions imposed on the Maduro Regime in Venezuela. The plenary will discuss that evolution, with a keynote presentation by Richard Newcomb, who served as the Director of the Office of Foreign Asset Controls (OFAC) from 1987 to 2004. The panel discussion will examine the impact of sanctions policy on your case and client.
