John McKendrick QC speaking in the Bahamas

John has been invited by the Bahamas Bar Association to address local attorneys on the regulation of Fintech at an evening seminar on 30 January 2020. As the Attorney General of Anguilla between 2016 and 2018, John was responsible for the Anguilla Utility Token Act, one of the world’s first legislative attempts to regulate virtual currency and utility token offerings. He continues to practise in all areas of regulatory law.

He also been asked to address the Bahamas junior bar group on the topic of “Developing An International Practice”.

On 31 January 2020 John will also speak at the 8^th Annual Arbitration and Investment Summit in Nassau on the topic of “Interim Measures: Attempting to Trace the Line of Deference Shown By English Courts to Arbitral Tribunals”. His paper is attached here.

John has continued to develop a significant international dimension to his practice and has received an increasing number of international commercial instructions, including most recently a high value LCIA arbitration involving Russian parties and an Arbitration Act 19896 challenge in the Commercial Court.

In January 2020 he was appointed to the list of arbitrators for the DFIC LCIA Arbitration  Centre. He has also been appointed to the Bar Council’s International Committee.
