London International Disputes Week will be returning for it’s 7th year, with this year’s theme being “Tradition, trust and transformation in international dispute resolution”. The week will begin with International Arbitration Day and an opening reception on Monday 1st June 2026, and conclude on Friday 5th June 2026. The event is aimed at delegates from around the world to network, learn and discuss at one of the largest global gatherings of the international disputes community.
Outer Temple’s Joshua Ray will be joining a panel session on Thursday 4th June 2026 from 2:00pm to 3:30pm. He will be discussing ‘Sanctions at the Breaking Point: Freeze, Seize, and a Fragmenting Global Landscape’ alongside Maggie Christiansen of Mishcon de Reya and Maya Lester KC of Brick Court Chambers. The session will be Chaired by Shaistah Akhtar of Mishcon de Reya.
This seminar addresses two critical challenges in contemporary sanctions law. First, the speakers will discuss when temporary freezing measures might cross into permanent seizure, politically or practically —a threshold question with profound implications for individuals and companies alike. This will lead into a wider discussion of the increasingly fragmented cross-border sanctions landscape, particularly the growing divergence between UK/EU and US regimes.
Registration – 2:00pm to 2:30pm
Talk – 2:30pm to 3:30pm
Networking – 3:30pm to 4:30pm
This will be an in-person event taking place at Africa House, 70 Kingsway, WC2B 6AH.
