Daniel Barnett has been invited to address the General Counsel Strategy Summit, organised by The Lawyer Conferences, taking place in Lisbon on 13-15 May 2015. He will be speaking on Preventing HR problems Turning Into Litigation, and will cover how to deal with toxic employees, the golden defence to discrimination claims, and practical steps to prevent employee competition. The summit is attended by over 90 chief executives and general counsel from the UK’s largest companies.

Costs in Employment Tribunals 2nd edition, published October 2014. Meets the needs of practitioners, analysing what tribunals are doing and, more importantly, why they are doing so. Uniquely, it draws on decisions in approximately 100 unreported tribunal cases where costs were awarded or refused, offering the reader clarity on how costs decisions are made in these cases. The sixth edition, published May 2014, provides a comprehensive overview of the main topics within employment law. Daniel Barnett comments on BBC Radio Scotland, Personnel Today and the Scotsman on the European Court of Human Rights decisions in Eweida v British Airways and linked cases. These cases consider the duties of employers to accommodate the religious beliefs of employers, and to allow them to display jewellery associated with that religious belief or refuse to undertake duties because of their principles.
