Henry Reid, led by Alex Haines of 4 Pump Court, represented the applicant at the final hearing in November 2024 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, following the success of the jurisdiction and admissibility judgment handed down in February 2024 (Decision No. 2024/04). Henry, having successfully appeared alone in the Jurisdiction and Admissibility judgment, co- represented the applicant against the Islamic Corporation for the Development of the Private Sector (“ICD”) in a termination case in before the IsDBGAT sitting en banc. The Applicant challenged the Respondent’s decision to terminate his employment as the Director of the Internal Audit Department. The High Court of Justice has handed down judgment in the case of Agrofirma Oniks LLC & Agro UG V LLC v. ABH Ukraine Limited & Others. Henry Reid, led by Michael McLaren KC of Fountain Court, successfully acted on behalf of the claimants in a Part 11 jurisdiction challenge brought by the Third Defendant, the oligarch Mr Mikhail Fridman. The case revolves around a dispute concerning Loan Participation Notes (LPNs) in which the Claimants, Agrofirma Oniks LLC and Agro UG V LLC, are agribusinesses and clients of the fourth defendant, PJSC Sense Bank (formerly PJSC Alfa Bank Ukraine). Outer Temple’s sanctions law specialists, Alex Haines and Henry Reid are providing a sanctions training session alongside the British Embassy in Astana, Kazakhstan on Tuesday the 18th of June 2024. The training session will focus on the Russia sanctions regimes implemented by the UK and US. Outer Temple Chambers’ digital assets, and banking and finance experts advised the DIFCA on innovative new laws on Digital Assets and secured transactions in September 2023, which have now been enacted. The new Digital Assets Law is considered to be ground-breaking as it is the first legislative enactment to comprehensively set out the legal characteristics of digital assets as a matter of property law, to provide for how digital assets may be controlled, transferred and dealt with by interested parties and to introduce an impairment regime that addresses the unique characteristics of digital assets. Alex Haines and Henry Reid were instructed by the Applicant in a case that came before the African Union (“AU”) Administrative Tribunal for a final hearing on 16th and 17th November 2023. The AU Administrative Tribunal, an international administrative tribunal – similar in nature to both the World Bank Administrative Tribunal and United Nations Dispute Tribunal – is based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
