Outer Temple Chambers are delighted to share this year's great success with appointments to the Attorney General's Panel. Bianca Venkata, Jeremy Scott-Joynt, Patrick Tomison and Carin Hunt have been appointed to the C Panel, whilst Alex Cisneros has been appointed from the C to B panel.

Outer Temple Chambers are delighted to share this year’s great success with appointments to the Attorney General’s Panel. Bianca Venkata, Jeremy Scott-Joynt, Patrick Tomison and Carin Hunt have been appointed to the C Panel, whilst Alex Cisneros has been appointed from the C to B panel. The Government Legal Department (GLD) administers the Attorney General’s Panel Counsel. The GLD relies on the junior counsel panel for advice and representation. We’re pleased to announce that Alex Cisneros has been appointed from the C to B Panel. Members appointed to the B Panel will generally be instructed where knowledge and experience of a particular field is required. Patrick Tomison named The Times ‘Lawyer of the Week’

Patrick Tomison has been named ‘Lawyer of the Week’ by The Times after acting for a dyslexic Marks and Spencer worker made redundant over mistakes in emails. The Times has named Patrick Tomison ‘Lawyer of the Week’ after he acted for an employee in a high profile disability discrimination case employment tribunal. Patrick acted for Rita Jandu, who worked for Marks and Spencer for more than 20 years and was made redundant because of mistakes in her emails. Jandu, who is dyslexic, claimed disability discrimination and unfair dismissal. The central London employment tribunal awarded her more than £50,000, ruling that her employers ignored the impact that dyslexia had on her work. “We had to prove the impact of her dyslexia…

The final talk at Outer Temple’s Annual Cross Border Law Conference included the eminent Gerard McDermott QC and his special guest from across the Atlantic, Jack J. Casciato, a partner at Clifford Law Offices in Chicago, about the differences between personal injury litigation in the US and UK. In this fascinating and lively discussion, Gerard talks to Jack about the differences between personal injury litigation in the United States and litigation in England and Wales. Jack is an up and coming young litigator of catastrophic personal injury claims in Cook County, Illinois, who now focuses on representing Claimants after spending eight years as a defence lawyer. Termination Clauses and Good Faith

Saaman Pourghadiri and Patrick Tomison consider termination clauses and good faith in their article entitled “When is the exercise of a termination clause restricted by an implied duty of good faith?” In this note, Saaman Pourghadiri and Patrick Tomison consider when the exercise of a termination clause could be restricted by an implied duty of good faith. The note considers the authorities which appear to suggest that termination clauses are special and ought to be unfettered. Saaman and Patrick then outline how such authorities might be overcome and the basis for doing so. Harry Trusted and Patrick Tomison have been published in LawInSport. The article, titled ‘How the UK courts assess future losses of earnings for professional athletes in claims for career-ending injuries’ examines a hypothetical claim for future losses of earnings raises. This article examines three specific possible heads of loss: losses of future earnings as a professional athlete; losses of earnings after retirement from sport; and loss of ‘congenial employment’, which means the loss attributable to losing the ability to pursue an enjoyable and fulfilling profession.
