Robert Rhodes KC to host lecture at the Duan & Duan Legal Training Course Programme (2023)

Robert Rhodes KC will present a training session to leading Chinese lawyers on a six-day intensive course in Jesus College, Cambridge University. Robert Rhodes KC will be part of a team of lecturers in a six-day legal training programme for Chinese Lawyers from Duan & Duan Law Firm between 27th August and 1st September 2023. The training programme will highlight ‘Practical Issues for Trans-National Commercial Legal Practitioners’. Robert will be presenting an after-dinner address following the 8th session reflecting ‘Practical Aspects of Litigation in the UK’ on 29th August. Robert Rhodes and Anthony Lo Surdo reappointed as a CAS member

We are thrilled to announce that Outer Temple’s Robert Rhodes KC and Anthony Lo Surdo SC FCIArb have been reappointed as mediators of the Court of Arbitration for Sport. Anthony has also been reappointed as a CAS arbitrator. Robert and Anthony have been reappointed by the International Council of Arbitration for Sport (ICAS) to this position in Lausanne, Switzerland for a period of four years and have been chosen for their specialist knowledge of arbitration and sports law. Robert Rhodes QC and Anthony Lo Surdo SC act as judges for the Thailand Arbitration Center’s first International Mediation Competition

Outer Temple’s Robert Rhodes QC and Anthony Lo Surdo SC were judges for the Thailand Arbitration Center’s first International Mediation Competition. This event took place on Wednesday 20th July 2022. The Thailand Arbitration Center (THAC) organised the “1st Virtual International Mediation Competition 2022”. The competition aimed to unleash the potential of young mediators around the world as well as encouraging them to gain knowledge and a proper understanding of the usage of mediation skill. Robert Rhodes QC lectures on the Singapore Convention on Mediation

Robert Rhodes QC, at the request of the China Maritime Arbitration Commission, will be lecturing on the Singapore Convention on Mediation at the Forum on ADR in Shanghai on 5 November. The Singapore Convention is of potentially huge interest to businesses worldwide because, until this Convention, it was expensive and time-consuming to enforce international commercial mediation settlements in third countries.  The Singapore Convention (on which Robert has regularly lectured) is designed to overcome this problem, and to do for international commercial mediation settlements what the New York Convention has done for international arbitration awards, viz make enforcement in third countries quick and inexpensive.
