Outer Temple Chambers hosts ‘Pro Bono Connect’ launch

Promoting Pro bono collaboration between barristers and solicitors.

Outer Temple Chambers is delighted to have hosted the Pro Bono Connect launch seminar this morning, Tuesday 8th November.

The Pro Bono Connect referral scheme brings solicitors and barristers together to provide free legal services to individuals, charities and community groups.

These Pro Bono barristers and solicitors work as a team by sharing workload and using their complementary skills.

This scheme’s purpose is both to increase the scope and volume of pro bono work and to strengthen the relationship between solicitors and barristers.

Both the Bar Pro Bono Unit and the Law Society are the two main supporters of this initiative. Covered areas of law are currently chancery, commercial, common law, public and tax cases.

Mr Justice Knowles, Chairman of the Bar Pro Bono Unit, introduced the well-attended launch event, with Michael Napier QC, former President of The Law Society, as guest speaker. Jamie Goldsmith, barrister, offered an overview with Anna Boase and Silvia Farre sharing their professional experiences of the scheme.

We encourage law firms and chambers to get highly involved in this programme, so that pro bono work is conducted more efficiently. Twelve city law firms and 15 chambers are currently participating.
