Outer Temple Chambers is thrilled to once again be a co-sponsor of the flagship annual event for international injury lawyers; the PEOPIL Annual Conference, this year in Brussels on 25th – 27th September 2025.

The PEOPIL Annual Conference is held in a different member country each year, taking place this time in Belgium. Outer Temple Chambers is delighted to once again co-sponsor this year’s conference. The event will begin with pre-registration and a welcome drinks reception on 25th September, followed by the two-day conference on 26th and 27th September.

Outer Temple’s Ian Denham, Daniel Clarke, Lorna Badham, Paul Barton and Victoria Bunn will be attending the Conference to watch their colleague Sarah Crowther KC Chair part of the event.

Ian Denham is a member of the PEOPIL General Board as representative for England and Wales and also Secretary of the PEOPIL RTA & Whiplash EEG. Sarah Crowther KC will Chair the afternoon sessions at the Conference on 26th September, including:

  • The AI Act: Future impact on rights and Access to Justice
  • Navigating barriers to access justice in today’s political climate
  • The impact on the EU Motor Insurance Directive on the newer EU member states
  • Access to Justice: Alternatives in Financing Litigation

Sarah Crowther KC acts for both claimants and defendants across the range of personal injury disputes, including catastrophic injury claims, spinal cord injuries, brain injury and fatal accidents. She handles employer’s liability claims, including asbestos-related illness claims, public liability claims, road accidents, sport and consumer claims.

Ian Denham is a leading personal injury junior and regularly acts for both claimants and defendants in cases involving serious and catastrophic injuries. He has extensive experience in spinal and brain injuries claims with complex future care and accommodation requirements. Further, he has considerable experience in dealing with complex fatal accidents claims especially where there are family dependants across multiple households.

Daniel Clarke has a particular specialism in cases with an international element, including claims raising conflicts and jurisdictional issues. He was junior counsel in the Court of Appeal and Supreme Court in the leading case of Brownlie (No. 2). He is ranked as a Tier 1 leading junior for Travel Law in the Legal 500 and a leading junior in Chambers & Partners. He also has experience of acting in claims in other jurisdictions, including in the Privy Council and in Jersey. Daniel is ranked as a leading junior in Personal Injury in Legal 500.

Lorna Badham is experienced across the full spectrum of personal injury work including road traffic, employer’s liability, occupier’s liability, fatal accidents, Highways Act, Animals Act, and mesothelioma claims. She has a further specialism in international accident and illness claims. Recent instruction has included high value spinal stenosis and fatal dependency claims, criminal assaults at work and industrial accidents resulting in serious damage to limbs and lifelong impact upon earnings.
