Outer Temple Chambers is pleased to welcome new pupils Elliott and Sophie. Head of Pupillage, Saul Margo says “We are delighted to welcome Elliott and Sophie to Chambers. They overcame stiff competition to obtain pupillage at Outer Temple and we look forward to what is hopefully a successful and enjoyable year ahead.”
Prior to studying law, Elliott had a ten year career as a doctor. He studied Medicine at the University of Cambridge and spent six years as a junior doctor gaining a broad range of experience in both primary and secondary care. He qualified as a General Practitioner in 2020 and has an extremely good understanding of the NHS and primary care systems. He continued to work as a GP while studying for the GDL (Distinction) and the Bar course (Distinction). During his time as a GP, Elliott was involved in teaching and co-authored a book aimed at helping those prepare for the GP application process.
While studying for the Bar course, Elliott volunteered for the BPP Legal Advice Clinic, where he advised clients seeking help from the Welfare Department. He was also involved with the campaigns team of the Royal National Institute for Blind people, where he helped advocate for those with sight loss.
Before coming to the Bar, Sophie worked as a paralegal for a Legal Aid firm in London, where she specialised in judicial reviews and statutory appeals under Part VII Housing Act 1996.
Sophie holds a first-class Bachelors in Modern and Medieval Languages from the University of Cambridge, specialising in Spanish and German. She obtained an MPhil in Modern European and Latin American Literature from Cambridge in 2014, before completing a PhD in Spanish and Argentinian literature in 2019. She went on to study for the GDL at BPP, obtaining a high distinction, and completed the Bar Course at the Inns of Court College of Advocacy. During the Bar Course, Sophie won the Lincoln’s Inn Inter-Provider Moot Competition for the ICCA, and successfully competed in national advocacy competitions in her own right.
