Outer Temple sings at ABA opening ceremony

A Legal Harmony choir of 70 singers from a range of legal firms and chambers performed at the opening ceremony of the American Bar Association London Session in front of 800 American Lawyers. The ceremony was held at Central Hall Westminster yesterday, commemorating 800 years of Magna Carta.

Speakers included: Alistair MacDonald QC, Chairman of the Bar of England and Wales, Andrew Caplen, President of the Law Society and Lord Neuberger who provided the keynote speech.

The choir was made up from the following firms: Allen & Overy, Berwin Leighton Paisner, Devonshires, Freshfields, Fieldfisher, Hogan Lovells, Howard Kennedy, Outer Temple Chambers and Wragge Lawrence Graham.

Three singers from Outer Temple joined the choir which was pulled together by Legal Harmony organiser, David Smith, business development director at Outer Temple.

The ABA responded to the performance with huge enthusiasm. ABA members were impressed that the singers were from law firms and David Rivkin of Debevoise and Plimpton and President of the International Bar Association described the performance as “magnificent”. William Hubbard, President of the ABA continued the praise of the choir in his speech at the evening reception.
