The Industrial Law Society was founded in 1964 as an organisation where both sides of industry and all those involved in employment law can meet regularly, and informally, to exchange views. It is the leading forum for debate and understanding of employment law and its applications. The two-day conference brought together solicitors, barristers, judges and academics from across the United Kingdom.
Our team of silks, juniors and clerks took the opportunity to meet up with peers and colleagues whilst attending talks and workshops on some of the hottest topics in employment law at the moment, including whistleblowing, the unintended consequences of s.19A and indirect discrimination claims, employment law mediations, the Employment Rights Bill, the rise of ‘Employer of Record’ model, and AI in the workplace.
The agenda also tackled the important topic of diversity in the Legal Profession of England and Wales.
Keynote speeches were given by The Honourable Lord Fairley, President of the Employment Appeal Tribunal and Judge Barry Clarke, President, Employment Tribunals (England & Wales).
Outer Temple’s employment barristers Andrew Short KC, Andrew Allen KC, Naomi Cunningham, Peter Linstead, Martina Murphy, Naomi Ling, Paul Livingston, Stephen Butler, Victoria Brown, Gus Baker, Elizabeth Grace, Sapandeep Maini-Thompson and Charlotte Elves, as well as our Employment Practice Director Nicholas Levett attended the Conference.
It was great seeing so many colleagues and friends over the two days, and we look forward to attending the Conference again next year.
