This two hour webinar will provide a comprehensive overview of DIFC Discrimination Law. Peter Linstead was involved in aspects of the consultation on the new law. The presentation aims to provide an in-depth analysis of the provisions and how the DIFC courts might apply them; to consider the few existing DIFC discrimination decisions and those in other jurisdictions which assist in interpreting the law; and to focus on the interesting and topical issues, as well as explaining what the provisions mean.

Ranked as a “leading junior” in both Middle East Commercial Law and UK Employment Law, Peter Linstead has extensive experience of employment litigation in the DIFC courts as well as the High Court in London and the UK Employment Tribunal, EAT and Court of Appeal. He has expertise in the DIFC’s Court Rules and Employment Law and has advised the DIFC Authority on aspects of DIFC primary legislation. A substantial amount of his practice involves claims for discrimination. He was involved in two important recent appeals in the UK on the definition of “disability” and has appeared in the UK Court of Appeal in relation to public sector equal pay and race discrimination. He also has experience in workplace stress and harassment claims and claims for injunctive relief in employee competition cases. He is the author of a book on Employee Competition, published in October 2020, and is the Editor of the Tolley’s Employment Law Service section on ‘Absence from Work’. He writes and lectures extensively on employment law and is an active member of the Education and Training Committee of the Employment Lawyers Association.
