Earlier this year, Outer Temple Chambers hosted an afternoon of talks at our Pensions Law Conference Series. Our leading pensions barristers covered various topics around pensions law. This was a hybrid event and the recordings are now available online. Following an introduction from Andrew Spink KC, Keith Bryant KC and Naomi Ling presented their talk on ‘Severing the bad from the good: a new approach where amendments are made in breach of a fetter following Avon Cosmetics Ltd v Dalriada Trustees & Another’.
The full slide deck from this presentation can be found here.
Keith’s practice is focused on pensions law and employment law and the areas of overlap between the two. He is also increasingly involved in cases with a financial services aspect. Keith has been recommended by Chambers & Partners and Legal 500 for pensions and employment law for many years with Legal 500 stating that he “brings a very wide range of expertise and experience to his advice, and his ability to deal with both complex employment and pensions matters is invaluable.” Keith’s pensions practice covers both contentious and non-contentious work. He acts for and advises a wide range of clients including trustees, employers, scheme advisers, government departments and agencies, and trade unions. He has also acted for representative beneficiaries in a number of recent cases in the High Court and Court of Appeal.
Naomi has over twenty years’ experience as an advocate and is sought after as a specialist in both employment law and pensions law and in particular the area of cross-over between the two. Naomi is an experienced and sought after barrister, acting for members, employers, trustees, local authorities and central government in a wide range of pensions issues. She has a particular interest in statutory pension schemes and employee entitlements and is also experienced in trust based part 8 claims, claims for rectification and professional negligence. She has considerable expertise in the developing area of human rights law relating to pensions, via Article 14 and A1P1 of the ECHR.
