We are delighted to welcome Shabana Saleem back from her time away to our Middle East Team. Based in Dubai, Shabana is a barrister and family mediator with over ten years’ experience advising on complex cross-border family, private wealth and financial matters across the United Kingdom, the Middle East and Asia. She practises internationally, acting in matters involving England & Wales, the Gulf region and other cross-border jurisdictions.
Shabana’s Private Wealth practice focuses on international family law and family wealth restructuring. She is particularly experienced in HNW and UHNW matters involving multiple jurisdictions, international assets and the legal, financial and cultural complexities affecting globally mobile families.
Alongside her practice at Outer Temple Chambers, Shabana is the founder of Family Reframed, an international family mediation practice dedicated to helping families resolve disputes constructively through mediation and other forms of alternative dispute resolution. Her experience as both counsel and mediator enables her to advise strategically throughout the life of a dispute, whether a negotiated settlement is achievable or litigation becomes necessary.
Shabana’s CV includes experience in-house at leading Legal 500 UK and Middle East law firms, with a particular focus on their HNW family clients. She has also spent four years in financial services regulation at the Financial Ombudsman Service and as a Consultant with Deloitte, advising on banking regulation, governance and financial risk. This background provides valuable insight into complex financial structures and complements her work on high-value financial remedy and private wealth disputes.
Her specialist expertise adds yet another dimension to our HNW and offshore teams which includes Islamic Finance and Offshore Trusts.
