Chris Gittins

Chris Gittins is the Director of Clerking at Outer Temple Chambers.

He joined chambers in 2025 with over 25 years’ experience in senior clerking roles in some of London’s leading commercial, chancery and family sets. He is responsible for the management of the clerking and business development function of chambers and has overall responsibility for providing its strategic leadership. Chris prides himself on his open and collaborative approach in leading a client-focused team. He works closely with the Heads of Chambers and the Senior Management Team to ensure that only the very best quality of service is delivered to our clients and is committed to the promotion of diversity and inclusion at Outer Temple Chambers and the Bar.

Chris is passionate about his role, having previously been part of the Outer Temple family in the 2000s. He cut his clerking teeth here before swiftly moving up the ranks and, during his time as a Senior Clerk, contributed to the international development of chambers and launch of our Dubai office, which continues to flourish today. He continued to build on this experience at some of the leading ‘magic circle’ sets, helping to transform fee structures, management structures and increasing market share whilst forging sophisticated professional networks of his own. Chris has been recognised in the directories as “setting the gold standard for clerking in the city at the moment’ and that he ‘injects the clerking team with great energy”.

He was heavily involved in the development of the Financial Services Lawyers Association (FSLA) alongside many lawyers who now sit on the advisory board and executive committee. He was a founding member of the executive committee of the Russia & CIS Arbitration Network (RCAN). He is a member of the Institute of Barristers’ Clerks (IBC).
