Paul Barton is the Practice Director for the Health Department at Outer Temple Chambers.
A clerk for over 25 years, Paul joined Outer Temple Chambers in 2006 and is a key member of Chambers, noted by clients for his high energy and “anything is possible” approach. In 2016 he took on the role of Business Development Director and then, in 2019, was promoted to Practice Director.
Paul has strategic oversight of the Health Department encompassing Personal Injury, Clinical Negligence, International Injury and Travel, Public Law and Product Liability.
Despite his leadership role, Paul continues to keep a strong hand in the day-to-day running of Chambers’ Health Department including practice development and fee negotiations, alongside his clerking team. He works closely with the barristers to ensure growth and development of both their individual practices and of the wider teams.
He is adept at developing new business and building strong relationships with solicitor clients, both internationally and domestically, whilst maintaining the highest standard of service delivery.
Paul has a high profile at conferences and seminars throughout the UK and Europe. He is actively involved with various industry bodies and charities, including PEOPIL (Pan-European Organisation of Personal Injury Lawyers), APIL and AvMA, and regularly attends conferences across the UK and throughout Europe.
In recent years Paul has played an influential role in the development of Chambers’ global brand, particularly in the USA.
