Paul Barton is the Practice Director for the Health Department at Outer Temple Chambers.
A clerk for almost 25 years, Paul joined Outer Temple Chambers in January 2006 and is a key member of the team, noted by clients for his high energy and “anything is possible” approach. In 2016 he took on the role of Business Development Director and then, in 2019, was promoted to his current role of Practice Director.
Despite his leadership role, Paul continues to keep a strong hand in the day-to-day running of Chambers’ Health Department including practice development, diary management and fee negotiations.
Paul has strategic oversight of the Health Department and is responsible for the development and promotion of individuals that fall within these areas of chambers’ expertise. These areas include: Personal Injury, Clinical Negligence, International Injury and Travel, Public Law and Sports Law.
He has a proven track record of developing new business and building strong relationships both internationally and domestically, whilst maintaining a high standard of service delivery for both members and clients.
Paul has a high profile at talks and seminars up and down the country. He is a member of PEOPIL (Pan-European Organisation of Personal Injury Lawyers), and regularly attends conferences across the UK and throughout Europe.
In recent years Paul has played an influential role alongside Gerard McDermott KC in the development of Chambers’ brand in the USA with a particular focus on Chicago. He is an Associate Member of the ABA (American Bar Association).
