Paul Barton is the Practice Director for the Health Department at Outer Temple Chambers.
Having started his career in clerking in 2000, Paul joined Outer Temple in January 2006, and, his high energy and “anything is possible” approach makes him a key member of the clerking team. This was recognised in 2016 when he was promoted to the role of Business Development Director and then again in 2019 when he was promoted to his current role of Practice Director.
Despite his leadership role, Paul continues to keep a strong hand in the day-to-day running of Chambers’ Health Department including practice development, diary management and fee negotiations.
Paul has strategic oversight of the Health Department and is responsible for the development and promotion of individuals that fall within these areas of chambers’ expertise. These areas include: Personal Injury, Clinical Negligence, International Injury and Travel, Public Law and Sports Law.
He has a proven track record of developing new business and building strong relationships both internationally and domestically, whilst maintaining a high standard of service delivery for both members and clients.
Paul has a high profile at talks and seminars up and down the country. He is a member of PEOPIL (Pan-European Organisation of Personal Injury Lawyers), and in March 2019 Paul was on the committee which successfully brought together lawyers from all over Europe for a two-day conference in Manchester.
He is a long-standing member of the Institute of Barristers Clerks.
