Judgment handed down in PMC v Cym Taf Morgannwg University Health Board [2025] EWCA Civ 1126 (PMC)

The Court of Appeal has today handed down judgment in this important case of PMC v Cym Taf Morgannwg University Health Board concerning anonymity orders in personal injury claims in which the Personal Injuries Bar Association (PIBA) intervened on behalf of its members. The PIBA intervention succeeded in upholding the approach taken in relation to anonymity orders where settlements are sought to be approved under CPR 21.10 in line with JX MX v Dartford and Gravesham NHS Trust [2015] EWCA Civ 96, [2015] 1 WLR 3647 (Dartford). The Court of Appeal in PMC has clarified the jurisdiction of the courts to make anonymity orders which include orders withholding information from the public and restricting the reporting of proceedings in court…
