Jack Brown has been shortlisted for Pro Bono Chambers’ Professional of the Year

Outer Temple are pleased to share that our Junior Clerk, Jack Brown, has been shortlisted in the ‘ProBono Chambers’ Professional of the Year’ category at the 2022 Bar Pro Bono Awards. In his role as a member of the clerking team, Jack facilitated a significant amount of Pro Bono Work between members of the public and members of Chambers over the past year. Jack has said “Guaranteeing equal access to justice for all is important to me, I am really pleased to be recognised for my role in working alongside an organisation as valuable for society as Advocate.” The Advocate 2022 Bar Pro Bono Awards Ceremony will take place on 2nd November 2022.

Louis Weston acts pro bono for Spain rugby player in FER appeal

An Independent Appeal Committee has upheld a decision relating to breaches of player eligibility in an appeal lodged by the Spanish Rugby Federation (FER). Louis Weston acted pro bono to advise the accused rugby player who was subject to the allegations of fraud and dishonesty. Louis Weston, Head of the OTC Sports Law Group, acted pro bono along with Olivia Amos of Northridge Law. Naomi Cunningham, Will Young and Bianca Venkata have completed the ’25 for 25: Pro Bono Challenge’

Outer Temple Barristers Naomi Cunningham, Will Young and Bianca Venkata have recently completed the ’25 for 25: Pro Bono Challenge’, run by the charity Advocate. In order to complete this challenge, they all had to complete 25 hours or over of pro bono work between June 2021 – June 2022. Advocate is a charity that connects volunteer barristers with those who require free legal assistance. This ensures that those who cannot afford legal assistance can still receive justice. Yet another three of Outer Temple’s barristers have completed the ’25 for 25: Pro Bono Challenge’ ran by Advocate. James Counsell QC and Imogen Egan have completed the ’25 for 25: Pro Bono Challenge’

The charity ‘Advocate’ has congratulated James Counsell QC and Imogen Egan for having recently completed their ’25 for 25: Pro Bono Challenge’. In order to complete this challenge, they both had to conduct 25 hours of pro bono work between June 2021 – June 2022, although James Counsell QC completed an impressive 40 hours. Advocate is a charity that connects volunteer barristers with those who require free legal assistance. This ensures that those who cannot afford legal assistance can still receive justice. Nick Levett nominated for Pro Bono Chambers’ Professional of the Year at Bar Pro Bono Awards 2020

Outer Temple is delighted that Nick Levett has been nominated for Pro Bono Chambers’ Professional of the Year at the upcoming Bar Pro Bono Awards 2020. Successful pro bono representation before the Financial Ombudsman

Chloë Bell has successfully provided pro bono representation before the Financial Ombudsman through Advocate, the Bar’s national charity for free legal assistance from volunteer barristers. Chloë Bell has provided pro bono representation to an individual who suffered a shortfall in a pension transfer quotation due to negligent advice and services provided by his financial advisors. The individual’s advisors sent incorrect documentation to the entity responsible for providing the quotation. When the correct documentation was eventually provided the original quotation had expired and the individual’s guaranteed minimum value quotation was lower. Representation was provided (through Advocate) before the Financial Ombudsman.
