Will Young recently secured a £3million settlement for the Claimant in a catastrophic road traffic collision injury case. Will represented the Claimant who suffered life-changing injuries in the form of brachial plexus and lower limb injuries in a road traffic collision. The Royal Court of Guernsey recorded its highest ever personal injury damages award in the case of JG v AC. Gerard McDermott KC and Ian Denham, instructed by Stewarts, represented JG who sustained a complete spinal cord injury, resulting in tetraplegia. In November 2021, JG was a rear seated passenger in a VW Golf that was travelling in excess of the 25mph limit on a narrow road in Guernsey. The vehicle lost control and clipped a wall on the side of the road colliding with a pole, before being flipped upside down and coming to a stop on its roof. Gerard, of Outer Temple Chambers, and Toby, of Kings Chambers, were instructed by Dan Herman, Charlotte Foster and Varsha Chandrasegaran of Stewarts Law in a road-collision case where XY, a young woman in her early twenties, sustained a life-changing spinal cord injury when her car was hit by a stolen vehicle.
