Nikky has a broad practice across Chambers’ business practice area, with a particular focus on pensions, employment, regulatory and disciplinary, and commercial law. She joined Chambers in 2024 following successful completion of her pupillage.

Recent and upcoming highlights in Nikky’s practice include:

  • Completion of a six-month part-time secondment with The Pensions Regulator.
  • Advising an employer in relation to automatic enrolment.
  • Successfully representing individuals before the Inns’ Conduct Committee and the Nursing and Midwifery Council.
  • Successfully defending a claim for breach of contract and unjust enrichment in the County Court on behalf of a telephony provider.
  • Successfully defending a claim for loss of earnings and breach of data protection legislation in the County Court on behalf of an insurance company.
  • Assisted Nicholas Hill with drafting a skeleton argument in relation to attestation in pension scheme documents in Ballard v Buzzard [2024] EWHC 2765 (Ch), [2025] Pens LR 3.
  • Assisted Nicholas Hill with drafting a skeleton argument in relation to section 57 of the Trustee Act 1925 in Pennon Pension Trustees Limited v Pennon Group Plc [2025] Pens LR 5 (as a pupil).
  • Successfully securing a final third party debt order on behalf of a local council.
  • Instructed to represent the Respondent in a three-day unfair dismissal and disability discrimination claim (in the context of redundancy).
  • Instructed in several upcoming multi-day final hearings in the Employment Tribunal, including a two-day hearing in a claim for unfair and wrongful dismissal (representing the Respondent), a four-day disability discrimination claim (representing the Respondent), and a four-day pregnancy and maternity discrimination claim (representing the Claimant).

Before coming to the Bar, Nikky practised law at a leading commercial law firm in Malta, where she worked across the firm’s practice areas, gaining experience in commercial contracts, financial services, and employment, amongst other areas. She also has experience in transactional work and has been involved in corporate restructurings, acquisitions, and bond issues.

Nikky holds Bachelor of Laws (Hons.) and Master of Advocacy degrees from the University of Malta. She obtained a Master of Laws (International Dispute Resolution) with Distinction from King’s College London, which included modules on international commercial and investment arbitration, before completing the Bar Transfer Test. While preparing to sit for the Bar Transfer Test, Nikky volunteered with NGOs and successfully competed in advocacy competitions, both at King’s College London and nationally.

  • Six-month part-time secondment with The Pensions Regulator. During her time at The Pensions Regulator, Nikky regularly advised on various aspects of pensions law, with a focus on Master Trusts.
  • Advised an employer in relation to automatic enrolment.
  • Assisted Nicholas Hill with drafting a skeleton argument in relation to attestation in pension scheme documents in Ballard v Buzzard [2024] EWHC 2765 (Ch), [2025] Pens LR 3.

Nikky acts for both claimants and respondents in all areas of employment law and is regularly instructed to appear in preliminary hearings (both substantive and non-substantive) and final hearings.

  • Assisted with preparation for a multi-million pound claim concerning alleged breaches of restrictive covenants and misuse of confidential information in the DIFC Courts.
  • Assisted with the preparation of advice in relation to the continued application of EU law to an employment claim and the impact of same (as a pupil).
  • Assisted with preparation for several discrimination and unfair dismissal hearings (both applications and final hearings) in the Employment Tribunal and Employment Appeal Tribunal, including in the drafting of skeleton arguments, grounds of appeal, and advice on the merits (as a pupil).

Notable Professional Discipline and Regulation cases


  • Successfully represented a nurse at an interim order review hearing before the Nursing and Midwifery Council.
  • Successfully represented a student barrister in a fitness to practice hearing before the Inns’ Conduct Committee.
  • Assisted in the preparation of advice for a regulator, including in relation to a matter arising out of complex litigation across several jurisdictions (as a pupil and later as a tenant).
  • Nikky has also been instructed to advise by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (as junior counsel) in relation to investigations and compliance more generally.
