Our barristers are always prepared to provide free legal advice in appropriate circumstances. They regularly assist clients who cannot obtain public funding and cannot afford to pay for legal services, through charities such as Advocate, the Bar’s national charity helping those who are unable to obtain legal aid and cannot afford to pay. We are proud that Practice Director Nick Levett was awarded Chambers’ Professional of the Year at the Advocate Bar Pro Bono Awards 2020 for his dedication to this great cause.
Every year Outer Temple Chambers takes part in the London Legal Walk to raise funds for the Legal Support Trust, which distributes monies to the Bar Pro Bono Unit, the Free Representation Unit and other legal charities to provide support to the poorest and most vulnerable people who need legal assistance.
The Spinal Injuries Association (SIA) provides support for people with spinal cord injury and their families. The services that SIA provides encourage paralysed individuals to reach their full potential and lead full, independent lives. Outer Temple Chambers has had a long association with SIA, raising awareness of, and money for, their work.
Headway, East London, is a charity supporting people affected by brain injury. Outer Temple Chambers previously hosted a Headway art exhibition – ‘New Life’ and we are now the proud owners of a six-foot giraffe, a collaboratively built sculpture from the Headway art studio, which can be found in the entrance of our London office. A specially commissioned painting of legal London also overlooks our reception area.
