Peter Linstead is an Employment and Commercial specialist, who has built a strong following and extensive experience in injunctions, complex employment tribunals and workplace stress personal injury claims. He is ranked in Legal 500 2016 as a leading junior in the field of Employment law.
Peter’s High Court practice covers competition and restraint of trade (both injunctions and trials), employment related professional negligence, company break down, the law of LLPs and drafting commercial agreements. He also appears regularly in the EAT and Employment Tribunal, dealing in particular with TUPE, Equal Pay and Discrimination, often against QCs. His Court of Appeal experience includes appeals on public sector equal pay, disability discrimination and race discrimination.
He also has a “niche” practice in stress and bullying claims, in which he has acted for the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, Essex County Council, a school, a hospital, a leading cosmetics brand and other entities and individuals. A number of these claims have had a value of several million pounds.
Peter’s instructions come from a wide range of solicitors and public bodies including city solicitors’ firms, banks, NHS Trusts and several local authorities. He has undertaken regulatory work before the Civil Service Appeals Board, the General Teaching Council and the Nursing and Midwifery Council. He accepts public access instructions in EAT appeals and commercial matters.
In June 2016 Peter was interviewed on the BBC News Channel and Radio 4 Today Programme about Employment law aspects of the ‘Sports Direct’ story. He has also appeared on Sky News several times to comment on current news stories. He has written numerous articles in specialist Employment law publications and tours the UK each year giving in-depth seminars to specialist Employment solicitors.
