On 8th January 2024, Alex Haines was admitted to the Washington DC Bar. The majority of Alex’s international practice relates to the International Organisations headquartered in Washington DC, namely the World Bank Group, the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the Inter-American Development Bank (IADB), the Organization of American States (OAS) and the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO). Alex is also admitted to the New York Bar (2019) and the Irish Bar (2020), as well as called to the Bar of England and Wales (2007).

Alex Haines is a dual national, fluent in French and Spanish, specialist in international law and sanctions with rare expertise in international organisations law. He was appointed to the Attorney General’s Panel in 2019 and as Sanctions Officer at the Caribbean Development Bank in 2020. The cases he has been instructed in have involved more than 40 International Organisations including the World Bank Group, IMF, OAS and UN (including its specialised agencies and funds). He is ranked in Chambers and Partners for Sanctions and Legal 500 for Business and Regulatory Crime (including global investigations).
