OTC Travel Team comment on Karpik v Carnival: Carnival liable for coronavirus outbreak on the “Ruby Princess” 

Outer Temple’s Travel Team provide comment on the Karpik v Carnival judgment, released on the 25th October 2023. Carnival PLC have been found liable for injuries and losses arising out of a coronavirus outbreak onboard the Ruby Princess cruise liner. An Australian federal court has found Carnival PLC liable under breaches of Australian consumer law and in the tort of negligence for injuries and losses arising out of a coronavirus outbreak on the Ruby Princess cruise liner in March 2020. Personal injury law specialist Ian Denham spoke at the PEOPIL Annual Conference in Dublin on 29th September 2023. Outer Temple Chambers proudly sponsored the event. The PEOPIL annual conference was a two day-event hosted in Dublin this year. Ian Denham kick-started the series of talks from 10:30-11:30am with a panel session on ‘Brexit: where are we now and where are we going?’ The discussion was chaired by Liam Moloney, Vice-President PEOPIL/Moloney & Co.
