Philip Punwar secures dismissal of all claims in aircraft charter arbitration  

Philip Punwar  was recently successful in obtaining the dismissal of all claims brought against an international logistics provider under an agreement for the charter of an A330 Airbus. The $2 million claim was dismissed by a London-seated tribunal applying English law. Based in Dubai for over 20 years, Philip is an English qualified barrister and arbitrator who has acted as sole, party-nominated and presiding arbitrator in ad hoc, ICC, DIAC and LCIA arbitrations seated in the Middle East and across Europe. He has previously acted for parties to agreements for the charter of fixed-wing and rotary aircraft, including those supplied to, and operated in, areas of conflict and natural disaster. Ian Denham appointed to the PEOPIL EU-UK Working Group and Position Paper is published

International injury specialist Ian Denham has been appointed to sit on the EU-UK Working Group of the Pan European Organisation of Personal Injury Lawyers (PEOPIL) together with a panel of expert lawyers from across the UK and Europe. The first step of the Workgroup has been to publish its first Position Paper: “Rights of Personal Injury & Fatal Accident Victims in the Field of Jurisdiction and Enforcement – A Call for EU-UK Cooperation.” A copy of the Paper can be found here. Outer Temple’s Travel Law team will be attending this year’s joint PEOPIL RTA and New Lawyers’ Group (NLG) Conference on Thursday 3rd and Friday 4th April 2025 at the Jagiellonian University in Krakow, Poland. The PEOPIL Annual New Lawyers’ Group (NLG) Conference is a two-day event held in a different member country each year and will be taking place in Krakow, Poland this year. Outer Temple hosts Instituto Marítimo Español during their London Tour

Last week, the International Injury Team at Outer Temple Chambers welcomed Instituto Marítimo Español to Chambers as part of their legal study trip to London. Instituto Marítimo Español is an institution dedicated to maritime training in its various branches across the Spanish speaking world; in legal, technical, commercial and operational functions. The two day trip to London consisted of a number of stops for the IMO team and the students of their Master’s Degree in Business and Maritime Law, as well as their education partners, and we were delighted to be involved.
